February: Kindle

Returning Light

For me, February is tentative, but turning toward the promise of more light. There’s a shift this month: a brightness in the air, a softening of angles, a quiet hint that the world is stretching awake. This month’s inspiration pairs February’s violet with radiating lines—little pathways of warmth threading outward.

Shaping the Art

For the February piece, I wanted to embroider bold violets, showcasing this important perenial flower. The radiating lines in the background became my way of marking February’s subtle shift–a soft spreading of light. The palette leans into purples and violets, rich greens, and is grounded with touches of warm ochre and gold to hint at the promise of warm days ahead.

Reflection

February is a month that teaches patience. It reminds me that transformation doesn’t always arrive fully formed—sometimes it trickles in. Working with violets made me appreciate the quiet strength tucked inside small things.

My old orchids now reblooming in my backyard. Love winter in Hawaii.
