So fun to have a tour with the farm’s manager at the Kona Cacao Farm. This is their newest farm, just south of Kona, and includes interesting information about local historic and contemporary farming practices. This farm includes mac nuts, kukui nuts, tropical ornamentals and of course mature kona coffee and cacao trees. It was really interesting to taste raw macadamia nuts and fresh off the tree cacao…and five different chocolates made by the Puna Chocolate Company. I was also able to bring home a cacao pod and I’m going to try my best to sprout a new tree or two.
