Jewels of the Sea

I love the beach. I’ve always wanted to live there, and I still do…

For 8 years (in the 90’s), I had the pleasure of living in North County, San Diego…Everyday after work, I’d get my dog and we’d walk to the beach….I’d say, “let’s go smell the sunset” and my Maggie-dog (a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback) would get so excited…on our walk–and our ritual pause to spot the green flash–we’d both feel so relaxed, newly full of hope and energy for the next day to come our way.

So, this year when I traveled to both Florida and then to San Diego in early 2022, I decided to share my love of the ocean with my ESL students. I pulled together a couple beginning watercolor workshops centered around seashore treasures. ‘Twas a lot of fun and my ESL learners gained some new vocabulary and perhaps learned a few new watercolor techniques.
